The Sniper Role
Snipers can single-handedly control the pace of a match. A well-positioned sniper forces enemies to hide, rotate the long way, or waste gloo walls. But sniping is also high-risk: miss your shot, and you're vulnerable.
Sniper Selection
AWM (S-Tier)
- Damage: 150 (one-shot headshot through Level 3 helmet)
- Rate of fire: Very slow bolt-action
- Best for: Players with consistent headshot accuracy
- Drawback: Airdrop-only, rare ammo
Kar98k (A-Tier)
- Damage: 90 (one-shot headshot through Level 1 helmet)
- Rate of fire: Slow bolt-action
- Best for: Reliable ground-loot sniper available in every match
- Drawback: Needs headshots to be effective; body shots are weak
M82B (A-Tier)
- Damage: 90 with armor penetration
- Rate of fire: Slow bolt-action
- Best for: Shooting through gloo walls and vehicles
- Drawback: Heavy and slow to scope in
SVD (B-Tier)
- Damage: 75 per shot
- Rate of fire: Semi-automatic (fastest sniper fire rate)
- Best for: Players who prefer spamming shots over precision
- Drawback: Lower per-shot damage means you rarely one-shot anyone
Quickscoping Technique
Quickscoping is the art of scoping in, firing, and scoping out in one fluid motion.
Step-by-Step
- Pre-aim at head level before scoping
- Tap the scope button — your crosshair should already be on target
- Fire immediately as the scope settles (within 0.3 seconds)
- Unscope and strafe behind cover
- Re-peek from a different angle and repeat
Practice Method
- Go to training mode and quickscope the moving targets
- Focus on speed first, accuracy second — your muscle memory will improve accuracy over time
- Use Kar98k for practice since it's the most common sniper you'll find
Positioning
Ideal Sniper Positions
- Elevated terrain — hills, rooftops, and cliff edges give you sightline advantage
- Zone edge — snipe from the edge of the safe zone toward the center
- Near natural cover — always have a tree, rock, or building to duck behind
- Near a vehicle — if your position is compromised, you can reposition quickly
Positions to Avoid
- Open rooftops with no cover — you become the target
- Static positions for too long — enemy teams will rotate to flank you
- Positions far from zone — getting caught in the storm while sniping is a common death
When to Snipe vs When to Push
Keep Sniping When
- You have clear sightlines and good cover
- Enemies are far away and don't know your location
- The zone is moving in your favor
- Your team is holding a strong compound
Switch to AR/SMG and Push When
- The zone is forcing you to move
- You've cracked an enemy's armor and they're healing
- The enemy is closing distance — snipers lose at close range
- Your team has a numbers advantage (3v2 or better)
Loadout Tips
- Always carry an AR or SMG as secondary — never run double sniper
- M4A1 + Kar98k is the most versatile loadout in the game
- Carry extra gloo walls — snipers need more cover than rushers
- Use the 4x scope on ARs as a budget sniper option before finding a proper sniper rifle
Sniper Sensitivity Settings
- 4x Scope: 55-65 (allows smooth tracking without overshooting)
- AWM Scope: 40-50 (lower sensitivity for precise long-range shots)
- Adjust in increments of 5 until flick shots feel natural
