What Are Custom Rooms?
Custom rooms let you create private matches with your own rules. They're used for scrims, tournaments, fun matches with friends, and practice sessions. You control the map, mode, and who can join.
Requirements
- Custom Room Card — obtained from events, the store, or guild rewards
- Minimum players vary by mode (1v1 requires 2, Battle Royale can start with any number)
- Stable internet connection (you're the host)
Step-by-Step: Creating a Custom Room
Step 1: Access Custom Room
- Open Free Fire and tap the game mode selector (top-right)
- Select Custom from the mode list
- Tap Create Room
Step 2: Choose Your Mode
- Battle Royale — Classic 50-player BR on any map (Bermuda, Kalahari, Purgatory, Alpine, Nexterra)
- Clash Squad — 4v4 round-based combat
- Lone Wolf — 1v1 or 2v2 close-quarters combat
- Big Head — Fun mode with enlarged hitboxes
Step 3: Configure Room Settings
- Room Name — Give it a clear name (e.g., "Scrim Night Round 1")
- Room Password — Set a password to control who joins. Share it only with participants
- Map — Select the map for your match
- Player Slots — Set the maximum number of players
- Auto-start — Enable to start automatically when the room fills, or start manually
Step 4: Share the Room Code
- After creating the room, you'll see a Room ID (6-digit code)
- Share the Room ID and password through your Discord, WhatsApp group, or social media
- Players join by going to Custom > Join Room > entering the ID and password
Step 5: Start the Match
- Wait for all players to join and ready up
- As the host, you can kick players if needed
- Tap Start when everyone is ready
Best Practices for Tournaments
Lobby Management
- Set a join deadline — give players 5-10 minutes to join before starting
- Use a waiting room on Discord or WhatsApp to coordinate
- Assign team slots ahead of time to avoid confusion
- Have a backup host with custom room cards in case of technical issues
Fair Play Rules
For competitive scrims, establish rules beforehand:
- No teaming across squads
- No stream sniping if the match is being broadcast
- Scoring system — define points for placement and kills before starting
- Disconnection policy — decide if players can rejoin or forfeit
Streaming Custom Rooms
- Add a 60-second stream delay to prevent sniping
- Use spectator mode if available for cleaner broadcasts
- Share the room code on stream with a delay so viewers can join at the right time
Troubleshooting
- "Room not found" — Double-check the Room ID and make sure the room hasn't started yet
- "Room is full" — The player cap has been reached. Increase it in settings or wait for a spot
- Lag issues — The host's connection affects all players. Choose a host with the best internet
- Custom room card expired — Cards have expiration dates. Check your inventory before planning
