What Is Character Awakening?
Awakening is a system that lets you unlock an enhanced version of certain characters. Awakened characters gain a secondary ability on top of their original skill, effectively giving you access to both versions of the character.
How Awakening Works
Requirements
- Own the base character at any level
- Collect Awakening Shards — earned through the character's Awakening missions
- Complete all Awakening mission stages — typically 5-7 stages with combat and collection tasks
- Spend Memory Fragments to level up the awakened ability
The Awakening Process
- Go to Character > Select the character > Awakening tab
- Begin the Awakening mission chain
- Complete each stage to earn shards — stages include tasks like dealing damage, playing matches, and using specific weapons
- Once all shards are collected, the awakened form unlocks
- You can now switch between the original and awakened ability in your loadout
Characters Worth Awakening
S-Tier Awakenings
Kelly → Dash (Awakened)
- Original: Increases sprinting speed by 6%
- Awakened: First shot on an enemy after sprinting deals extra damage based on distance covered
- Why it is great: The bonus damage on the first shot is massive for snipers and shotgun players. Sprint toward an enemy, land the first shot with M1887 or Kar98k, and the extra damage often secures the kill.
Hayato → Bushido (Awakened)
- Original: Armor penetration increases as HP decreases
- Awakened: Also reduces frontal damage taken as HP decreases
- Why it is great: The awakened version makes Hayato both more offensive and defensive at low HP. Combined with a character like K for EP sustain, you become extremely dangerous when wounded.
Andrew → Armor Specialist (Awakened)
- Original: Reduces vest durability loss
- Awakened: Also reduces damage taken by the vest at higher levels
- Why it is great: The awakened Andrew turns your vest into a much stronger defensive tool. Great for tank-style builds.
A-Tier Awakenings
Alok → Drop the Beat
- While Alok does not have a traditional awakening in the same format, his ability is already strong enough at max level that investing Memory Fragments into leveling him to max is a priority.
Moco → Hacker's Eye (Awakened)
- Original: Tags enemies you shoot for teammates to see
- Awakened: Tagged enemies also take slightly increased damage from all sources
- Why it is great: The damage amplification stacks with your squad's combined fire, making Moco awakened a strong support choice.

Tips for Efficient Awakening
- Focus on one character at a time — spreading resources across multiple awakenings slows you down
- Check event rewards — Awakening Shards sometimes appear in login events and special missions
- Prioritize Kelly or Hayato — these awakenings have the biggest impact on gameplay
- Play the missions in Clash Squad — many tasks like dealing damage or getting kills complete faster in CS mode
- Max the awakened ability level after unlocking — a level 1 awakened skill is much weaker than a maxed one
